Coffee was excellent, cowboy cookie was delish! Great place to try if you’re looking for a solid cup of coffee, need to get some work done on your laptop, need a place to meet for a meeting or just wanting a change of a scenery. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

This review is about sustainability only! By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. And over 95% of plastic we consume and send to recycling doesn’t actually get recycled, but rather is burned in incinerators, gets piled in landfills, or floats off into the ocean. That why I appreciate your shop—as a cafe in a coastal city—offers real, reusable mugs to customers. It means a lot to me to have sustainable, zero waste options when giving my patronage to a coffee shop. So I value not just the real mugs and water cups on site, but also the discount you gave me for bringing my own mug. That said, it seems that many folks inside aren’t aware of the reusables available, or maybe need to be asked explicitly by a barista if they want one. Lots of single use plastic cups in the trash can in the shop, showing just how many folks are making trash after one drink in house. Maybe worth asking customers if they’re staying! And maybe worth some signage encouraging Santa Barbarans and tourists alike to treat the ocean better. Thank you for considering, and thanks again for the delish coffee and availability of real cups.

Now my second time trying Handlebar Coffee (diff location) and it was just as good as the first time. The lattes are rich and silky and just delicious. Pretty large indoor area and lots of tables outside, too. It's a great spot. Small parking lot and street parking. We'll definitely be returning next time we're in Santa Barbara!!!

The best dog-friendly cafe in this country. I love studying my school materials here and watching different kinds of dog.

Handlebar is the pinnacle coffee roaster in the Santa Barbara area, and they know it. I’ve worked with other mobile coffee vendors and the majority of them use Handlebars beans. Gibraltar is hands down the best. When I’m in town, I try to grab an espresso to start my day. Having said that, their take home 12oz bag is now $24, which is even more than the small batch coffee from Starbucks Reserve in Seattle. It’s still probably worth it, but $2 an ounce is really high.
